Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the “going-to-sleep” hypnagogic state; it is  here we gain access to the subconscious mind. Yoga nidra is a type of meditative practice, based in intention and fostering deep relaxation. Meditation is focused on softening the mind, while yoga nidra softens the body first—which then allows the mind to soften.

Yoga nidra slows the wavelengths in your mind as you enter a sleep-like state. The experience starts with guided meditation sensing the body and mindfully breathing to trigger the relaxation response in your nervous system. Yoga nidra trains your mind and body for relaxation so you can reach a deeper state of sleep.
